Conceptual diesel coupe Audi RS5, first introduced in May last year, broke the terms of the German race track “Sachsenring” for 1 minute 35 seconds. Two-door coupe not only became the fastest diesel car of the track, but also surpassed the results of such sports cars as the Nissan GT-R, Audi R8 V10 Plus and Ferrari 458 Italia Spider.
The car is equipped with a three-liter diesel “six” with two turbochargers (high and low pressure), and a supercharger with an electric drive. Engine power, working in tandem with an eight “automatic”, is 435 horsepower, and torque – 800 Nm.
Through the use of carbon in the structure, aluminum and titanium prototype curb weight was reduced by 241 kilograms as compared to a conventional compartment RS5 – to 1576 kilograms. In addition, the engineers “Audi” dismantled the rear seats and replace window glass with a thin polymeric material.
From zero to hundred kilometers per hour concept is dispersed for four seconds. This is 0.6 seconds faster than the serial RS5, equipped with 4.2-liter petrol “eight” power of 450 horsepower. The maximum speed of the diesel concept is electronically limited to 250 kilometers per hour.
A year ago, after the premiere RS5 TDI Competition Concept, the media speculated that the prototype will be a harbinger of the first Audi diesel model with an index of RS. She had to get back on the conveyor in 2015. However, official confirmation of this information has not yet been forthcoming.
